The shooting occurred Monday at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket during a co-op hockey event between Coventry-Johnston and St. Raphael, along with Providence Country Day-North Providence-North Smithfield.

According to police and the Mayor’s office, two victims died after being shot. The shooter is also dead, and authorities are not looking for any additional suspects.

The shooting stemmed from a family dispute. According to police and reports from FOX, the gunman shot his wife and two children before turning the weapon on himself.

The game was being livestreamed when the shooting occurred. The video captures the chilling sound of gunshots ringing out in the arena, sending players and spectators scrambling for safety.

Coventry’s superintendent confirmed all of its students were safe: “We have been informed that students are secured in multiple locations. “

Johnston Public Schools reported: “We have confirmed that our Johnston High School student-athlete who was participating in the game is safe. We are also aware of another Johnston student who was in attendance, and that student is safe as well.”

St. Raphael Providence issued a statement: “There was a horrific incident with an active shooter. We have been told none of our SRA family was injured.”

The names and ages of the victims have not been released. The community is left grieving, with thoughts and prayers pouring in from across the region.
