According to Scottsdale Police, officers conducted a traffic stop around 1:30 a.m. near Scottsdale and Thunderbird roads after observing traffic violations . The driver was identified as 30-year-old Dillon Brooks.
Following an investigation, Brooks was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI at approximately 1:33 a.m. . He was transported to Scottsdale City Jail, booked, and then released around 3:30 a.m. after the booking process was completed .

Law enforcement officials stated that Brooks was “respectful and cooperative” throughout the process . Potential charges will ultimately be determined by the city prosecutor’s office .

A mugshot obtained by TMZ and circulating on social media shows the 30-year-old forward wearing a white tank top with his lengthy beard and braids, staring directly into the camera with his eyes appearing slightly red .

Brooks’ arrest came just hours after the Suns’ 105-103 loss to the Chicago Bulls at home on Thursday night . The loss dropped Phoenix to 35-27 on the season, leaving them seventh in the Western Conference standings .

The timing is particularly notable as Brooks was not even in uniform for the game he remains sidelined with a fractured left hand suffered on Feb. 21 against the Orlando Magic .

“We are aware of the situation involving Dillon Brooks and are gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time” .

Brooks underwent surgery in late February for his fractured left hand and was expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, meaning he will likely miss most, if not all, of the remaining regular season .

If Brooks were to plead guilty to the DUI charge, it would likely result in a suspension from the NBA. In 2023, San Antonio Spurs guard Devonte’ Graham pleaded guilty to DWI and received a two-game suspension .

Brooks is also a key member of the Canadian men’s national basketball team and represented his country during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris .

The Suns now face an already challenging playoff push without one of their key contributors, whose off-court issues add another layer of concern to an already difficult season.
