Scheffler gave fans another display of why he plays at such a high level on Thursday. His round had been over for hours, but that didn’t stop him from hitting the range.
The PGA Tour’s X account labeled him as a “sicko” while sharing a video of Scheffler in the rain. He shot an even-par 72, trailing early wave leader Maverick McNealy by just five.

The way he arrived at his number raised a lot of eyebrows. He went right off the tee, and that trend continued for multiple holes. No. 10, his opening hole, 12, 14, 15, 15, five and seven saw Scheffler go right.

He explained that the issue stemmed from a driver switch. He went from TaylorMade’s new Qi4D to the Qi10 driver.

Despite his disappointment, Scheffler didn’t hide from his struggles. He stayed on the range for hours, working through the issues in the rain, determined to find a solution before his next round.

Scottie Scheffler is still in contention. He’s still the No. 1 player in the world. And he’s still willing to grind in the rain long after everyone else has gone home.

That’s not just dedication. That’s being a sicko. And it’s exactly why he’s the best.
