Racing World in Shock After Driver’s Final Post Hours Before Fatal Nürburgring Crash
The motorsport world has been left stunned following the tragic death of veteran driver Juha Miettinen, who was killed in a devastating seven-car crash at Germany’s iconic Nürburgring circuit.
The 66-year-old had shared his excitement about competing just hours before the accident, making the loss even more heartbreaking.
Miettinen was taking part in the opening qualifying race for the prestigious Nürburgring 24 Hours when disaster struck.
Around 25 minutes into the four-hour session, his car became involved in a multi-vehicle collision at the notorious Karussell section of the Nordschleife track one of the most dangerous stretches in motorsport.
Despite the immediate arrival of emergency crews, he could not be saved and was later pronounced dead at the circuit’s medical center.
In a cruel twist, Miettinen had posted enthusiastically about the event alongside his co-driver earlier in the day, expressing his eagerness for the challenge ahead.
That final message has since gone viral, drawing emotional responses from fans and fellow racers who are mourning the loss of a man described as passionate, dedicated, and always smiling.
Formula One champion Max Verstappen, who was also competing in the event but was not involved in the crash, paid tribute on social media.
Officials confirmed that while six other drivers were involved in the crash, none suffered life-threatening injuries. The race was immediately halted to allow emergency services to respond.
