Cameraman Takes Brutal Kick to the Groin at Big Ten Tournament

March 9, 2026

The cameraman was stationed behind one of the baskets at the Big Ten Tournament, simply doing his job, when Hawkeyes guard Taylor Stremlow fell into him during a play.

To her credit, Stremlow immediately checked on the cameraman to make sure he was okay. He waved her off, motioning that it was all good but anyone watching could tell he was absolutely not all good.

Social media erupted with sympathy for the brave cameraman.“Oh geez got him good. He wanted to put that camera down really bad but he didn’t. Pros pro,” one fan wrote.

“That was like a precision-targeted attack couldn’t have hit it better if you were a teenage boy playing with your mates,” said another.

Barstool Sports reshared the clip with the caption: “Somebody check on this camera guy. That may be career ending.””He gave her the ‘I’m ok’ hand wave,” a user observed.

Kudos to the cameraman for focusing on the job at hand. Everyone would have understood if he’d doubled over and taken a moment. But he waved it off, kept working, and became an internet legend in the process.

Stremlow, meanwhile, had a solid performance despite the unfortunate incident. She scored 11 points with 6 rebounds and 6 assists in Iowa’s 59-42 win over Michigan.

That courtside camera spot comes with plenty of hazards. This cameraman just found out exactly how hazardous it can be.

He took it like a champ. But we’re all feeling that pain from here.
