During a guest appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, Barkley, who recently trolled the Los Angeles Lakers’ fans, waded into the sensitive waters of parenting.
“If you don’t spank your kids and discipline them, they turn into some of these brats that we got today. I’m not here for child abuse. But how are kids going to know they’re doing something wrong?
Barkley stated, “I’m gonna say what I gotta say. Some of y’all gonna like it. Some of y’all are not. And y’all will get over it.”
When Barkley’s statement surfaced on X, fans did not hold back, flooding the comment section with their reactions.“Hitting ur kid is abuse to some ppl tho lmao,” one fan said.
“The ONLY time in my opinion that you’d spank a child? Is if they’re doing something that will hurt them. Example? Let’s say a 4 year old. Tried to put something in a light socket.
“Sick f* man. Hitting children is some sick st. It’s not okay to put your hands on adult but it’s ok to beat a child? F* you,”** another fan commented.“Spanking your kid doesn’t work,” another fan mentioned.
“Never hit my kids, they’re all high School and College educated. I used a different form i communicated with them at every opportunity,” another fan wrote.
The internet exploded. Some agreed. Some were furious. And Barkley? He said he doesn’t read the comments anyway.
