Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes, the 59-year-old leader of the brutal Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), was killed in a military operation Sunday .
The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Mexico issued an urgent alert Sunday: “Due to ongoing security operations and related road blockades and criminal activity, U.S. citizens in a number of locations in Mexico are urged to shelter in place” .

James and Whitfield were filmed at an airport elevator Friday heading to Cabo San Lucas which sits approximately 300 miles northwest of Puerto Vallarta, where the violence has been most severe .

The video shows a fan approaching the couple in the elevator, telling Bronny he’d followed his career since high school and even watched his private gym sessions at USC without him knowing a revelation that made many viewers uncomfortable .

Social media erupted with concern once the connection was made between Bronny’s trip and the escalating violence.

“He needs to get back home immediately,” one observer commented .“The cartel just doing whatever they want,” another noted .

Some pointed out that the James family’s resources provide protection unavailable to average travelers:“That brother got the resources to afford a quick private jet to escape immediately,” one user noted .

“Yeah the one thing we said when we saw an entire country go into war was ‘OMG what about a celebrities kid that’s on vacation’,” one fan wrote .

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has urged calm, stating, “There is calm, there is government, there are armed forces and there is a lot of co-ordination” .

Multiple airlines, including Air Canada and WestJet, have suspended flights to and from Puerto Vallarta . The U.S. State Department continues to warn American citizens in affected areas to shelter in place and monitor local media .
