Videos surfaced this week showing members of the Torino fan base shoveling manure onto the doorstep of the team’s training ground. The pile of excrement came complete with a banner aimed directly at Cairo:
“merde come Cairo” which translates roughly to “s—t like Cairo.”

Cairo has owned Torino since 2005. In those 21 years, fans have grown increasingly frustrated with what they see as a lack of ambition from ownership.

Torino currently sits in 15th place in the Serie A standings. For a fan base with history and pride, that’s unacceptable.

Soccer fans are known for passionate protests. They chant. They wave banners. They sometimes storm the pitch.

The manure wasn’t just shock value it was symbolic. Cairo has been running the club for two decades with little to show for it. In the eyes of the fans, his tenure has been exactly what they dumped outside the gates.

For Cairo, the message is clear: win, or expect more crap.
