Hours before the Lakers’ road game against the Golden State Warriors, James decided to hit the links at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. A short video of his swing quickly spread across social media and not because it was impressive.
The clip shows James teeing off with a swing that looks, well, less than smooth. The ball didn’t travel the way fans expected from one of the world’s most elite athletes.
“Sweet Moses. Get this guy some lessons. Just another sport he’s not as good as MJ at,” another added, invoking the eternal LeBron-Michael Jordan debate.
“This legitimately makes me feel better about myself,” one person joked.“Probably the most unathletic swings I have ever seen from a global athletic superstar,” another chimed in.
James is a known golf enthusiast. He talks about it often and has even practiced his swing on the sidelines during NBA games. Some fans have speculated that his love for golf might signal an impending retirement.
But Saturday proved otherwise. He played golf in the morning, then showed up and played against the Warriors that night. The man can multitask.
The golf game needs work. The basketball game? Still pretty good.
