“Lucky to Be Alive”: Chris Bosh Shares Scary Health Update After Waking Up “Covered in Blood”

February 28, 2026

In an emotional video posted to his X and Instagram accounts, the Hall of Famer revealed that he recently woke up “covered in blood” after a sudden health emergency.

“I woke up covered in my own blood,” Bosh said. “It was crazy. It was fast. It was instant. There was no warning. I didn’t have any time to prepare for it. I was getting ready to go on a date with my wife, and the next thing you know, I was on the ground.”

“I won’t get into specifics, but you can kind of see I’m still recovering. I’m not gonna try to hide that one in case I look different, but it was a scary thing, and it came fast.”

“It made me really have a different outlook on life and how things go, what we do for ourselves, what we do for our family.”

Bosh’s career with the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat was derailed by blood clots that forced him to retire prematurely.

During his prime, Bosh was a key piece of the Miami Heat’s Big Three alongside LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Together, they reached four straight NBA Finals and won championships in 2012 and 2013.

After James departed in 2014, Bosh was limited to just 44 games in 2014-15 and 53 in 2015-16 a cruel end to what should have been a long, productive career.

“It made me really have a different outlook on life and how things go, what we do for ourselves, what we do for our family.”

Chris Bosh’s playing career ended too soon. His health battles have followed him into retirement. But he’s still here, still fighting, and still reminding the rest of us what matters.

Good advice from a man who knows exactly how quickly everything can change.
