New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has found himself in the middle of a growing controversy after publicly supporting NBA guard Jaden Ivey
Ivey, who questioned the NBA’s promotion of Pride Month during the livestream, was waived by Chicago shortly afterward.

Following Ivey’s release, Henderson stepped in to defend the 24-year-old guard. The Patriots running back posted a passage from Matthew 5:10 a Bible verse referring to those “persecuted for righteousness’ sake.”

Henderson’s support comes at a time when Ivey’s future in the NBA remains uncertain. Before arriving in Chicago, Ivey spent three and a half seasons with the Detroit Pistons

While the situation with Ivey continues to spark debate, Henderson himself is coming off an impressive rookie season.

Drafted by the Patriots in the second round in 2025, the former Ohio State star quickly became a crucial part of New England’s offense. He finished his debut season with 911 rushing yards and nine touchdown.

Though New England eventually fell to the Seattle Seahawks in a defensive battle, Henderson and quarterback Drake Maye formed one of the league’s most exciting young offensive duos.

Whether the team addresses the situation or chooses to stay silent remains to be seen, but one thing is certain Henderson’s post has added new fuel to an already heated conversation surrounding Ivey and league policies.
