From NBA Glory to Courtroom Trouble: Lamar Odom Evicted from LA Mansion After $45,000 in Unpaid Rent

Former NBA star Lamar Odom, 45, has been ordered by a Los Angeles court to vacate his Studio City rental property after allegedly failing to pay $45,000 in rent. The eviction stems from a lawsuit filed by Executive Recovery Group, Inc., the property’s sublessor, claiming Odom entered into an oral month-to-month rental agreement in December 2024, agreeing to pay $15,000 per month. However, he reportedly failed to make payments for January through March 2025.
Despite receiving multiple notices, including a three-day notice to pay or vacate posted on March 11, Odom did not respond to the lawsuit. Consequently, on April 28, the court granted possession of the property to Executive Recovery Group and ordered Odom to leave. The landlord is also seeking attorney fees and damages.
The Studio City mansion has a notable history, having been previously leased by the late rapper Mac Miller, who filmed his MTV series “Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family” there.

Odom’s financial troubles are not unique among former professional athletes. Many face challenges managing finances post-retirement, often due to sudden wealth, lack of financial literacy, and lifestyle inflation. Odom’s situation underscores the importance of financial planning and management for athletes transitioning out of their sports careers.

Beyond his basketball career, Odom has faced personal challenges, including a near-fatal overdose in 2015. Since then, he has focused on recovery and launched Odom Wellness Treatment Centers to help others struggling with addiction.
This eviction marks another chapter in Odom’s tumultuous post-NBA life, highlighting the complexities and challenges that can accompany life after professional sports.
