A tense playoff battle between the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers suddenly turned into comedy during Game 2 at Madison Square Garden.
The unexpected moment came after the basketball somehow got stuck behind the backboard midway through the third quarter. What followed quickly went viral online, especially after Karl-Anthony Towns decided to troll both Andre Drummond and Tyrese Maxey afterward.
Andre Drummond’s Failed Rescue Attempt Goes Viral
With the game temporarily paused, Andre Drummond grabbed a broom in an attempt to free the basketball from behind the backboard.
The problem? It did not go well.
Drummond struggled multiple times while players and fans watched the awkward scene unfold. After several failed attempts, Karl-Anthony Towns stepped in, took the broom, and knocked the ball loose almost immediately.
The arena erupted with laughter as the bizarre delay finally came to an end.
Karl Anthony Towns Couldn’t Resist Trolling Tyrese Maxey
After the game, Towns revealed the hilarious comment he made to Tyrese Maxey during the delay.
“He walked up to me and I was like, ‘I went to Kentucky longer than you,’” Towns joked during his postgame press conference.
The Knicks star then laughed while mentioning his “geometry experience” helped him figure it out faster than Drummond.
Fans online immediately loved the moment, with many calling it one of the funniest playoff clips of the season.
Knicks Continue Dominating Despite Injury Concern

The Knicks eventually secured a 108-102 victory to take a 2-0 series lead over Philadelphia.
Towns finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists, while Jalen Brunson added 26 points in another huge playoff performance.
However, the win was overshadowed slightly by OG Anunoby’s hamstring injury. The forward is reportedly day-to-day heading into Game 3.
Still, the Knicks remain firmly in control of the series and thanks to Towns, they also delivered one of the funniest moments of the postseason.
