The Boston Celtics entered the playoffs with championship expectations. Instead, their shocking first-round exit against the Philadelphia 76ers completely shifted the conversation around the franchise.
Now, much of the attention is focused on Jaylen Brown.
Rumors about tension between Brown and the Celtics organization have exploded across social media over the last few days. But Celtics executive Brad Stevens has finally addressed the growing speculation directly.
Brad Stevens Responds To The Rumors
During a recent interview, Brad Stevens pushed back hard against the claims that Jaylen Brown is frustrated with the Celtics organization.
The rumors originally gained traction after Tracy McGrady suggested Brown’s frustration “lies deeply” within the franchise. That instantly fueled speculation about Brown potentially wanting out of Boston.
Stevens, however, made it clear he has not personally seen any signs of that tension.
According to Stevens, he recently spoke with Brown following the playoff elimination, and their interaction was completely positive.
Stevens Says Communication Remains Open

Stevens also emphasized that his relationship with players has always been built around communication.
He explained that every player on the roster is free to speak openly about concerns regarding their role, future, or situation with the team.
More importantly, Stevens revealed that Brown has never directly expressed frustration to him behind closed doors.
That statement immediately cooled down some of the speculation surrounding the Celtics star.
Trade Rumors Are Already Heating Up
Even with Stevens publicly defending the situation, trade rumors are continuing to grow rapidly.
NBA insider Brian Windhorst recently suggested teams around the league are closely monitoring Brown’s situation, especially with a possible Giannis Antetokounmpo trade scenario looming this offseason.
The Milwaukee Bucks have already been linked to Brown in multiple rumors following their disappointing season.
If Brown hesitates on a future extension with Boston, speculation could quickly intensify.
Brown Still Remains The Center Of Attention

Brown has already found himself in headlines following the Celtics’ playoff collapse.
Shortly after the Game 7 loss, he publicly criticized officiating, comments that reportedly led to a hefty fine from the NBA.
Despite the noise surrounding him, Brown remains one of the most important pieces of Boston’s future.
For now, Stevens appears determined to shut down the idea that a major divide currently exists between the franchise and its superstar forward.
