LaMelo Ball is facing potential trouble after a controversial moment during the Miami Heat vs. Charlotte Hornets Play-In game, with the NBA reportedly reviewing the incident.
The play in question occurred during a high-stakes matchup that has since sparked widespread debate among fans, analysts, and media.

In the second quarter, Ball drove toward the basket but had his shot blocked by Simone Fontecchio. As the play continued, Bam Adebayo jumped to secure the rebound behind him.

After both players came down, Ball appeared to grab or pull at Adebayo’s ankle. The contact caused Adebayo to lose balance and fall hard to the floor.

As a result, Adebayo suffered a back injury and had to leave the game, heading to the locker room. Despite losing one of their key players, the Miami Heat managed to push the game into overtime.

However, the Hornets ultimately secured a dramatic 127–126 win, with Ball hitting the game-winning layup in the closing moments.

Following the incident, reports surfaced that the NBA is reviewing Ball’s actions. According to insider Chris Haynes, the league is expected to make a ruling before the Hornets’ next Play-In game.

If the league determines the act was intentional or dangerous, Ball could face consequences such as a fine, flagrant foul upgrade, or even a suspension.

This situation creates uncertainty for Charlotte, especially as they prepare for a crucial matchup to secure the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Adding to the controversy, social media users have resurfaced clips from a previous game showing Ball making a similar move against Adebayo.

The incident quickly became a hot topic on sports shows, including First Take, where Stephen A. Smith shared his perspective.

He acknowledged that Ball clearly made contact with Adebayo’s leg and said the play could have warranted a foul. However, he also argued that ejecting Ball during such an important game might have been excessive.
